STATEMENT BY RICHARD G. MASON, PRESIDENT,
GREATER NEW YORK COUNCILS OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA:
The Greater New York Councils of the Boy Scouts of America is concerned about President Trump’s comments at the Boy Scouts of America’s National Jamboree. Scouting is an apolitical organization that was founded to teach and support our youth. It is a Scouting tradition to invite the President to give inspiring remarks to the tens of thousands of young people gathered for the Jamboree. However, it is inappropriate for any President to use the Jamboree as a backdrop for political statements. GNYC provides Scouting programs and services for nearly 50,000 boys and girls in New York City.
